EL Solvents

EVIO Labs tests all types of products for residual solvents.  We verify that concentrate and oil products as well as edibles are free of solvents, processing chemicals, and some substances commonly found in pesticides. Solvents are used during the extraction process, and are then evaporated from the product after the extraction process is complete.

EVIO Labs uses the latest technology and state-of-the-art instruments to deliver fast and accurate results that confirm your production processes are compliant. EVIO Labs uses headspace gas chromatography to quantify harmful solvents, impurities, or adulterants down to parts-per-million (PPM). Using our Gas Chromatographer with Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID), means we provide the most comprehensive and accurate testing available anywhere.

Dichloromethane 600 Use to decaffeinate coffe and tea, prepare flavor extracts. Aerosol propellant, Paint stripper, Inhalation hazard can cause neurological symptoms including dizziness, loss of consciousness.
Ethyl acetate 5,000 Widely used solvent, in glues, nail polish remover, perfumes, decaffeinating coffee. Prolongued exposure can lead to drowsiness and unconsciousness.

Ethylene glycol 620 Antifreeze, fungal treatment for wood Toxic to nervous system in large amounts. Respiratory irritant.
Ethylene oxide 50 Used in surface disinfectant, detergents. Accelerator fof maturation of tobacco leaves, fungicide. Very hazardous carcinogenic, anaesthetic, highly flammable
Heptane 5,000 Anesthetic, solvent, lab reagent. Adhesives, sealants, fues. May cause drowsiness, dizziness.
Hexanes 290 Extraction solvent for oilseed processing, vegetable oils. Cleaning agent Mild central nervous system effects.
Isopropyl acetate 5,000 Solvent used for plastics, oils, fats.  In some printing inks and perfumes. Irritation of eyes, nose and throat.  Severe overexposure may cause weakness, drowsiness and unconsciousness.
Methanol 3,000 Wood alcohol.  Commonly used in lab as sample extraction. Antifreeze. Gelled version is "Sterno" fuel Potentially fatal when swallowed or intentionally inhaled at high doses. CNS depressant, affects optic nerve.
Pentanes 5,000 Used in production of polystyrene and insulation materials. Inexpensive solvent Irritant of skin, eyes, nose. Most common exposure from gasoline fume inhalation.
Propane 5,000 Common fuel and solvent CNS depressent at high exposures.
Tetrahydrofuran 720 Solvent for PVC and in varnishes.  Laboratory use. Biodegradable with low to moderate toxicity
